Hiking solo I decided to go conservative and approach from the Hale Brook hiking trail. I was also interested in exploring the basin of Hoxie Brook. I tried decsending from the east end, but it looked excessively steep so I backtracked along the ridge and descended by gentler slopes to head waters of Hoxie Brook. I came across logging road and could have returned by that with less trouble, but I wanted to explore the huge talus slope at foot of East Hale so I detoured back towards East Hale to take some photos of the talus before descending to rejoin the logging road over by Hoxie Brook and roadwalk back to the Hale Brook TH. The summit is well worth a re-visit especially to try a more direct approach probably direct assault from north east.
